UPDATE: If you're looking for Chinese BBQ meats and noodle soup, this is the place to get it!! Can't expect much for service or ambiance, but expect your money to go further, because it hasn't gone up as much as the other restaurants in SF. There's usually a line out the door for bbq take out! And from my last review, it went up a dollar or 2, but still worth it! BUN BO HUE ~ Vietnamese spicy beef noodle soup. One of my bf's fav. He's had it elsewhere but he says their broth is tasty and noodles are good. Lam Hoa Thuan gives enough to satisfy! 5/5 HOUSE SPECIAL WONTON NOODLE SOUP ~ I requested the wide egg noodles. They don't skimp here! I couldn't even finish it. I had to take half home! For $13.20, I can't complain! These days, you can't even get a small appetizer for $15! And this fed me for 2 meals! Big wonton with shrimp, fishballs, shrimp, ground meat, and tons of noodles. 5/5 We also got 1/2 a duck to take home too! Perfect for dinner! Woohoo!!!

As traditional Cantonese BBQ goes, this is pretty much as good as it gets. We ate-in on weekday late lunch, 1pm'ish, and it was full. Pretty much all customers appeared to be local. The services were prompt and we discovered the portions were generously and flavors rich. After the lunch, I bought a whole duck home. Too bad I live in South Bay...

Yep, back again. Very good. Tender. Pro tip: use the scallion and ginger oil for the salted, roast chicken! That is all.

Lam Hoa Thuan stands out as a solid choice for Chinese BBQ enthusiasts in San Francisco. Our Wednesday night takeout experience revealed a diverse menu, and we opted for the Char Siu with rice and a whole ginger white chicken, which came to a reasonable total of $40. What struck us immediately was the generous portion size - enough to satisfy even the heartiest appetite. While the taste didn't reach the heights of culinary excellence, it was by no means disappointing. The Char Siu was flavorful, and the ginger white chicken showcased a well-balanced infusion of spices. The ambiance of the restaurant is comfortable, with plenty of tables and seats available. However, be prepared for a potential line at the door, a testament to the popularity of this Chinese BBQ spot. The quick service adds to the appeal, making it an ideal choice for those seeking a swift and delicious dining experience. In conclusion, Lam Hoa Thuan earns its stripes as a reliable destination for Chinese BBQ cravings, providing a satisfying meal in a bustling setting.

Quick and cheap meal. Love the soy milk the most! $1 only ....rosted pork was kinda round while duck was not bad. Chicken was ok but I will definitely try their Pho next time. FYI.... They only accept cash!!

I stopped by around 1030am on a Thursday and there was a small line to order their roasted/bbq meats. There was some road work or something being done so many of the spots in front of the restaurant had a sign that said we could not park there. Thankfully I found a spot down half a block without issues. I ordered one roasted duck. It comes with a container of duck sauce but honestly the sauce is not necessary because the duck has a ton of flavor. It wasn't salty or overly burnt. The butcher was pretty friendly, I ordered in Cantonese though. But the person in front of also ordered in English/Cantonese and he was also treated well. It was $29 on the wall plus tax, it ended up being $31.50. I remember when a roasted duck used to be $20. Not sure how this compares to other places around the block in terms of pricing. Kind of pricy but I think it's probably comparable to other places nowadays. If you want a bag you gotta pay an extra $0.10. BRING CASH! The restaurant is definitely a little run down but it's still really clean for those that want to dine it. I've dined in the past when I was younger with my family many times before tutoring. Their service was always quick and to the point. Overall, this roasted duck was FIRE! Totally recommend coming here to get their duck! The wait wasn't very long with two butchers chopping away. Just know there can be a line for BBQ items for takeout because they're fairly popular , but the line moves quick!
